SIGINT

Postby kmussack » 22 Aug 2016 17:34

I upgraded my SIGINT equipment this week. I added a new Uniden Bearcat BCD536HP scanner and Discone antenna.

With the Yaesu FT450D transceiver I can listen to (HF-short wave) foreign broadcasts as well as HAM radio operators around the world to collect information.

The Bearcat helps me keep tabs on the VHF & UHF communications locally (fire, police, ambulance, etc.).

Supporting this scanner I have installed a Diamond Super Discone Antenna.

This antenna is mounted out of the view of passers by.

My plan is to finish up this electronics suite by upgrading my frequency analyzer to a Signal Hound.
This gear along with the ability to employ it will go a long way toward improving our situational awareness in time of emergency.

The guy seems to be switched on.
Former S2/G2 type.
Obviously a TOC dweller.

He was written a couple of books as well.

his book on IPC is well done.

His online training and webcasts are worth it as well.

I sometimes need to remind myself of the fact that we have limited resources here.

I'd love to have a full-up TOC with all the fixin's come SHTF time but there'll only be six adults on the property.

We will not be operating in a military context. We simply won't have those resources available on the homestead.

This is where having a community comes in. Many hands make light work.
